Fishing.

I bought my license today. I dug out my old fishing license....from 2002!! How the heck has it been that long!? So I got my license and a few things for the tackle box. A word of advice, don't go to a fishing shop to get your license, apparently you have to go to WalMart, Longs or Raleys. I got mine at Raleys, in the photo department. I about gave up, but Jake and I pressed on. Sheesh.

So tomorrow, after eggs, bacon and coffee, we are off for fishing the mighty Sacramento River. I don't expect to catch anything with the water being so cold. But at least we can throw a few and pretend. We need a boat.

So I'm ready for a year of fishing. Teaching the boy how to cast. How to hook a worm, cut bait, hook crickets, tie his own knots, not get back lash. yeah right. I remember being his age and just getting my pole into all sorts of trouble as the master (my dad) fixed it.

I grew up fishing. When we lived in Blythe, I would ride my bike along canals with my pole and fish everywhere. We landed bluegill, carp and bass. When the canals were empty, we caught crawdads. Those were good times.

Then when we moved to Julian, I worked on a boat dock and my work revolved around fishing. I fished on my off days, before work, after work, on my break. I was into it. Time to pass on what I can.

Now you're talking. You just have to go do it. You've challenged me to do the same.
